These beautiful moths (and their caterpillars) can be found throughout North America. Adult moths are almost all white on the wings with a beautiful coat of white fur on the thorax. The caterpillars are often called the yellow woolly bear, but can vary in color from beige, yellow, dark red-brown, or black. Generalists, they munch on many low-growing plants, and woody shrubs and trees.

Size: Wingspan (adult) 32 – 52 mm
