The Chevron is on the wing from June to September in acidic bogs in northern forests—Newfoundland to New Jersey, west to Montana and British Columbia, north to the Yukon and Northwest Territories. It also flies throughout Eurasia, east to Japan. The next generation will overwinter in the egg stage, with the caterpillars emerging in May and June to feed on leaves of alder, birch, blueberry, gooseberry, poplar, and willow.
