Sometimes our subjects make it easy to find them …Glenn found this beautiful moth on the office door as he headed into work. October Thorns can be found from mid-August into November (depending on location and elevation) and might be mistaken for an autumn leaf on the right backdrop. The twig-mimicking caterpillars feed on maple, alder, snowberry, ocean spray, buckbrush, azalea, salal, and elderberry.

Size: Forewing length 17–26 mm
