Moths in this genus are striking, owing to their very dark forewings. While we’re not sure what species this this is, one of our most frequent submissions is the Ornate Tiger Moth (Apantesis ornata), which is typically found in the Northern Rocky Mountain states and Pacific Northwest in moist forest and grassland habitats. The larvae are generalists, feeding on a wide variety of herbaceous vegetation.
