Bugs & Brews: Dragonflies & Damselflies of Western MT

The speaker, Suzanne Hendrich, is a retired professor, Iowa State University, resident of Missoula since 2018, Master Naturalist and nature journaling enthusiast trying to learn as much as possible about dragonflies and damselflies, member of the Dragonfly Society of the Americas. Suzanne will share findings from her 2024 and 2025 surveys of dragonflies and damselflies, emphasizing where and when to observe these amazing insects in Western Montana, key distinguishing features of several of the most prevalent local species, and how to contribute observations of these charismatic microfauna to ongoing community science efforts for the State of Montana.

Time: Doors open at 6:30 PM, speaker at 7:15 PM.

Where: Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium, 1075 South Ave W., Missoula, MT 59801

Be sure to get there when the doors open to give yourself ample time to explore the museum and butterfly house before the lecture. Grab a beer, peruse the exhibits, and hold a bug or two at our encounter area!

Admission is $15 for non-members / $12 for members, which includes two complimentary beverages. Must be 21 or over for alcohol, non-alcoholic beverages available.
