Dreams do come true! After reaching toward our vision of opening a tropical butterfly house and insect museum for nearly 15 years, on December 5, 2023 we proudly opened the doors to the Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium.

While reaching the milestone of opening Montana’s first tropical butterfly house might sound like we crossed the finish line, in reality, this is just the beginning. Opening this new facility began a new era for our organization and the impact our education efforts will have for our schools, our community, and visitors to Missoula. That’s why your support is so greatly appreciated.

As a donor, you’re a partner in our efforts to create, nurture, and ignite lifelong curiosity and awe for the natural world. Whether it’s through our unique education programs or the experiences and hands-on learning opportunities provided in the butterfly house and insectarium exhibit area, our efforts inspire an appreciation and understanding of “The Little Things That Run the World” (Edward O. Wilson, 1987).

Aside from staff salaries, keeping the butterfly house filled with beautiful butterflies from around the world is our second largest annual expense. As part of our Flight Crew, your tax-deductible monthly donations will go directly to acquiring our butterflies, helping us spread our wings all year long.

Becoming a member not only provides you with free unlimited admission and other benefits, but you also become part of the community swarm that’s taken our long-term dream of opening a tropical butterfly house and insect museum and turned it into reality. From visiting our facility to attending special programs and events, we welcome you and invite you to learn and explore along with us.
