Museum Intern (Fall 2025)
Job Title: Museum Intern (Unpaid)
Hours: 10-20 hours/week
Description: The Missoula Butterfly House & Insectarium is looking for Museum Interns to support the visitor experience, live animal care, and education programing. Schedules can be flexible based on the intern’s availability; however weekend hours are required. MBHI is looking for passionate and enthusiastic interns who want to share their curiosity for the natural world with others.
Duties:
- Assist with activities on the floor of the insectarium and butterfly house, including working at the Animal Encounter Area, connecting with visitors in the butterfly house, serving as a docent in the insectarium, and facilitating family activities such as arts and crafts, story time, science experiments, etc.
- As needed, assist with other aspects of museum operations, including working the admissions desk and gift shop, helping with animal care, general office tasks, and other tasks that are assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of college
- Experience with or passionate commitment to teaching/working with children of various ages
- Basic understanding and passion for natural sciences, including entomology
- Strong communication and organization skills
