At less than 1.5 inches in length, the white-faced meadowhawk is one of our smaller dragonflies. Since meadowhawks like to perch in a favorite spot, they are much more cooperative subjects for photography. They can be found coast to coast across Canada and the northern United States in marshes, ponds, lakes, and slow moving streams.
