Weidemeyer’s Admiral (Limenitis weidemeyerii) – These rather large butterflies can have up to a 3.75-inch wingspan. They tend to be found around wet places where its host plants grow (Aspen, cottonwood, willows, ocean spray, and shadbush). They are similar in appearance to the Lorquin’s Admiral, but the Lorquin’s has red tips on the forewings. Photo by John Ohrmann on July 5, 2016 near Anaconda, MT.
