Lampronia oregonella: This tiny and active moth only landed on the photographer’s leg long enough for a quick shot. Out of two insect and moth/butterfly citizen science websites (BugGuide and Butterflies and Moth of North America) this is the first reported sighting of this beauty in the United States. According to BugGuide, they can range from British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, and Colorado …and you can now add Montana to that list.
