While we are not 100% sure, we believe the critter pictured here is in the genus Podisus, a genus of predatory stink bug. As a species of True Bug (order Hemiptera), stink bugs have a piercing sucking mouth part. While many species will simply suck sap from plants, if we have the genus right on this one, they will use their proboscis to feed on larval forms of butterflies, moths and beetles.
