Are you an adult wanting a peaceful visit to the butterfly house? Or do you have a child who finds the usual noise and activity stressful? We love the unbridled joy children bring to the museum, but the excitement can be overwhelming for some. So, we’re excited to introduce quiet and sensory-friendly hours!

“Adult Swim” Quiet Hour

This quiet hour is for adults only and is a great opportunity for grown-up bug enthusiasts to enjoy a child-free museum environment. We will minimize excess noise during this time to offer space for reflection, journaling, or reading—whatever activity brings you peace of mind.

When: Friday, September 27th at 9:00 AM

Please purchase tickets in advance here!

Sensory-Friendly Hour

Do you have a kiddo who is overwhelmed by noise and stimuli? During this hour, we will turn off fans, heaters, foggers, and anything else that makes extra noise in the museum.

When: Tuesday, August 20th and Saturday, October 26th at 9:00 AM

Please purchase tickets in advance here!

Some Things to Keep in Mind:

The animal encounter area will not be open during these hours.

The staff will be quietly working to ready the museum for our regular open hours.

Art supplies are welcome but must adhere to USDA guidelines (no large bags over 12” x 12,” no monopods/tripods).

Excess noise will be kept to a minimum (fans and foggers off, etc.), but noise-canceling headphones are welcome and encouraged if needed.
