This species of assassin bug is found across Canada, throughout the United States and into northern Mexico in weedy fields and meadows. As a type of true bug (order Hemiptera) they have an impressive piercing / sucking mouthpart which is used to “stab” their prey. The adults and nymphs can also use this mouthpart to deliver a bite.
