Yellow-necked Caterpillar Moth (Datana ministra): Out of two insect and moth/butterfly citizen science websites (BugGuide and Butterflies and Moths of North America), this is the first reported sighting of this beautiful moth in MT since 2008 (only the second ever). These moths are widely distributed in the east, but are pretty rare west of the Mississippi. Where they are abundant, they can be pests in orchards.
