West Coast Lady (Vanessa annabella) — Unlike the Red Admiral and Painted Lady, the West Coast Lady’s range is limited to western North America, from southern British Columbia south to Baja California Norte; south and east to Montana, Colorado, New Mexico, and Mexico. They look very similar to painted ladies but have notable differences in markings on the hind wings and with the “bar” on the top outside of the forewing (which is orange on west coast ladies and white on painted ladies).
