Peck’s Skipper (Polites peckius) — These small butterflies can be found from British Columbia east across southern Canada to Nova Scotia; south to northeastern Oregon, southern Colorado, northwest Arkansas, and northern Georgia. They can be found in a variety of habitats, including moist and dry grassy areas, montane meadows, prairie marsh edges, roadsides, and urban lawns. Here in MT, we only see one flight (brood) each year, typically in July. Photo by Glenn Marangelo on 6/27/17 in Missoula, MT.
