Cowpath tiger beetle (Cicindela purpurea): These beautiful tiger beetles can be found from grassy hillsides to forest clearings (anywhere vegetation is sparsely covering the ground). They vary in color from black to purple to green. Adults overwinter, mate, and die off by mid May. You can find the next generation in late summer.
