Western Sculptured Pine Borer (Chalcophora angulicollis): This beautiful species of metallic woodborer beetle was recently separated as an individual species from its eastern relatives. They can be found in coniferous forests in western North America and lay their eggs on the bark of large braches or the trunks of conifers. They are noisy fliers and hard to miss.
