This tiny little butterfly was found at 9,200 ft., above treeline, near the top of St. Mary’s Peak in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. The temperature was only 35 degrees and the wind was blowing hard. Talk about a hardy little butterfly! They also occupy lower elevation habitats (mountain meadows, prairies, and low ridges) and can be found from July to August in MT. Photo by Glenn Marangelo on 7/19/19 near Stevensville, MT.
